Abstract
Memory and storage are perhaps the two most distinctive characteristics of computer technology in general. Together with control, they are the basic underpinnings of the whole capability, the essence of the entire technology. It is memory and storage that make the computer capability possible. They were also among the most difficult technological problems to solve, with storage probably the more difficult of the two.
In many ways, memory and storage are the very heart of the computer capability, those functions which make computers possible.
