Abstract
The admonition to choose the software before you choose the hardware is probably the most widely offered advice to those not expert in the computer field, but seeking to buy a system.
Conventional wisdom dictates software before hardware in buying a computer, but operating systems and CPUs count too, and the whole concept applies to complete systems of work stations and networks, too.
