Dynamic Load Response of Plastics Members and Effects of Cyclical Loading

In the previous discussions on loading of plastics members, the concern was with loads applied at a constant level for relatively long times, in the order of hours or longer. The present discussion relates to loads applied to plastics for very short periods of time in terms of seconds or less. Since plastics materials exhibit a complicated stress response we would expect that the behavior under this type of load would differ substantially from the behavior under static loading, and it does.
