Abstract

Many plastics materials are transparent and most are translucent in the unpigmented state. They have a range of optical properties that make them interesting for a wide spectrum of optical applications that extends from windows to lens systems to sophisticated applications involving action on polarized light. This chapter will cover some of the applications for plastics in optical devices and the design principles involved.
