On the Phase Transformation During Reduction of Magnetite at High Temperatures

Abstract

Previous studies on the reduction of iron oxides at temperatures above 1000 K suggest that the process may be particularly dependent on the phase transformations1,2. Results reported in papers 3,4 would indicate that the character of those transformations connected with the magnetite-wüstite stage may be determined by the deviation from stoichiometry of the developing wüstite phase.
