Abstract
The intent of this paper is to describe Chrysler’s integration and planned usage of the Control Data Corporation’s CYBER 205 Vector Processor Computer installed at Chrysler’s Technical Computer and Instrumentation Center. The first section covers the integration of this machine into Chrysler’s technical computer system that serves a user community of 2,000 engineers and designers. The remaining sections cover specific applications that can be effectively performed on this class of machine. Some of these applications are currently being done on other computers; e.g., structural analysis and imaging. Other applications, e.g., aerodynamics and crash simulations, require the computer resources that the CYBER 205 provides to be done effectively, and, as such, are only in their infancy at Chrysler Corporation.
