Abstract

During the period covered useful reviews have appeared on mechanistic aspects of Group I–III elements, including boron,(1) substitution reactions at silicon by Corriu and Guerin,(2) organosilicon reaction mechanisms by Cartledge,(3) and the synthesis of five-coordinate compounds of the non-metals as analogues for the transition states of associative nucleophilic displacements.(4) Useful mechanistic and other information on reactions involving boron (Chapter 5), silicon (Chapter 9), germanium (Chapter 10), and arsenic and antimony (Chapter 13) may be found in an important nine-volume treatise on organometallic chemistry.(5)
