Abstract

It is now well established the cells responsible for the long term retention of antigens inside the lymphoid follicles are the follicular dendritic cells (FDC). Rooijen (1) demonstrated the same lymphoid follicle could trap two non-cross-reacting antigens. But it remained to be determined whether an individual FDC is specific for one antigen or could also retain other non-cross-reacting ones. In that aim, two antigens visible at electron microscopic level (bovine serum albumin, BSA) linked to gold particles and ferritin) have been injected simultaneously into preimmunized mice in order to obtain the retention of these two markers.
