Multivariate Analysis of Serum Apolipoprotein Levels and Other Risk Factors for Myocardial Infarctions

  • Chapter
Lipid Metabolism and Its Pathology

Abstract

Recently, much evidence has accumulated that apolipoproteins have specific functions in the intermediary metabolism of lipids (for review and references see; Fager, 1979). Therefore, we wanted to test the hypothesis that serum apolipoproteins might be more specific and sensitive markers of the dyslipoproteinemias involved in the early development of myocardial infarction. This paper reports the results of multivariate analyses of data on serum apolipoproteins A-I (apoA-I), A-II, B (apoB) and D (apoD) as well as on serum lipids, alphalipoprotein cholesterol and several other variables discussed in relation to the development of myocardial infarction.
