Abstract
Special techniques developed by Sperry (1961) and Gazzaniga et al. (1962) for examining commissurotomized patients have disclosed functional asymmetries of the hemispheres and disturbances in information transmission between them. Gazzaniga and LeDoux (1978) summarized the results from commissurotomized patients and animals. There have been few studies using simple bedside neuropsychological evaluation. Preilowsky (1975) and Zaidel and Sperry (1977) examined Vogel and Bogen’s patients after surgery and observed that bilateral motor interaction and perceptuomotor performance were preserved in previously overlearned and well-established bimanual tasks, but there was inability to learn new bimanual tasks.
