Gas Chromatography/Mass Spectrometry in Air Pollution Studies

  • Chapter
Mass Spectrometry in Environmental Sciences

Abstract

Air pollutant samples are very complex in nature, containing chemical species which range in concentration from low ppt to high ppm levels.(1) Chemical compounds present in the atmosphere include both gaseous components and those present in dispersions of liquid or solid particles. Samples may be collected from ambient and interior (work space) air environments and mobile and stationary source emissions.
