Abstract
Plasticizers are chemicals which are used primarily as additives to a large variety of commercial products. Plasticizers are added to impart flexibility to a plastic resin or polymer, to facilitate processing of various resins, or to otherwise develop improved properties not present in the original material. There are numerous applications of plasticizer com-pounds, such as: floor coverings, wire insulation, adhesives, upholstery, automotive trim, food wraps, foamed carpet backing, rubber moldings, insect repellants, cosmetics, and floor waxes. Plasticizer additives are found in nitrocellulose, polyvinyl chloride, methacrylate, polystyrene, polyvinyl acetate, polyurethanes, and other synthetic applications.
