Leukocytic Endogenous Mediator in Nonspecific Host Defenses

  • Chapter
The Reticuloendothelial System

Abstract

Invasion by microorganisms as well as tissue injury trigger a broad range of varied events. These events, which include the acute inflammatory response, are attempts by the host to sequester the invading organism or the damaged tissue with the ultimate goal of ridding the host of this disruption in homeostasis.
