Abstract

The salivary glands are usually divided into the major glands (which are the paired parotid, submandibular, and sublingual glands) and the minor salivary glands that are found in the mucous membranes throughout the upper aerodigestive tract. The consideration of neoplastic processes of these structures is as varied as their locations and has but a secondary relationship to the production of saliva and the digestive process. The tumor cell types are numerous, with therapy and prognosis determined by not only the tumor histology, but also location.
