Perspective on Data Analysis for the Space Telescope

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Ettore Majorana International Science Series ((POLS,volume 21))

Abstract

The systems that are being created to provide data management and analysis facilties for the Hubble Space Telescope are similar to many that preceeded them, but also employ some techniques that are relatively new to astronomical data processing. These systems will be briefly reviewed, both from an overall view and from the user view. The various elements that have been used in the design and construction of the systems and the more important technological features will be discussed in some detail.
