Abstract
It is becoming apparent that calmodulin is a key regulatory protein in plants. It has been shown to be involved in mediating gravitropie (Biro et al., 1984) and phytochrome (Wagner et al., 1984; Serlin and Roux, 1984) responses. It is involved in directed polar growth (Hausser et al., 1984) and in regulating the concentration of cytosolic calcium (Fukumoto and Nagai, 1982). Given the diversity and importance of calmodulin-mediated functions known thusfar, we became interested in developing a technique which allowed us to investigate the distribution of calmodulin in plant tissue. In this report, we describe a method which is applicable for both algae and higher plants.
