Abstract
The main advantage of a clear and concise presentation, along similar lines to the more advanced treatments of Tisza (l) and Callen (2), is that students are brought very quickly to a point where they have an overall understanding of the basics of macroscopic equilibrium thermodynamics. They are then in a position to study applications, advanced topics, alternative approaches or history. The presentation, outlined very briefly below, has been used by the author for around 15 years.
