Abstract
Over a period of two or three decades the subject of Applied Thermodynamics has become one presenting considerable difficulty to the average University student, where previously it was generally found to be a reasonably straight forward subject. The author, in common no doubt with many engineers involved in teaching the subject, has been considerably worried by this and has given much thought to the possible reasons for this change.
