Abstract
The dramatic progress made in recent years toward the conquest of cancer, as well as the progress made in all areas of the life sciences, has been achieved mainly through the unprecedented and extensive use of biophysical probes, at both the cellular and the molecular level. The shift from qualitative and descriptive assays to quantitative and structural probes has become a general phenomenon involving the entire biomedical community. Numerous biologists and physicians are upgrading or recycling their former education to cope with present and future challenges.
