Abstract

Sotalol is a beta-adrenoreceptor blocking agent (nonselective and devoid of membrane-stabilizing or intrinsic sympathomimetic activities) which has also class 3 antiarrhythmic properties. It is effective in angina pectoris, hypertension, and arrhythmias, and reduces the incidence of reinfarctions, but not mortality, in patients with a history of myocardial infarction.
