Abstract
Nitrendipine is a new dihydropyridine derivative with calcium antagonist properties and a long duration of action. Its effect on calcium ion kinetics appears to be somewhat different than that of conventional calcium antagonists. Nitrendipine has a potent peripheral vasodilatory effect, without having a significant negative inotropic effect. It does not directly affect impulse generation and conduction.
