Abstract
A considerable body of information exists in the medical literature about neck nodes in patients with head and neck malignancies. Much of this literature discusses the frequency of nodal involvement with metastases. This literature has clearly documented that the cervical lymphatic system plays a potential role in altering the behavior of head and neck malignancies and also needs to be an important consideration in the development of therapeutic programs. A wealth of clinical data exists, and thorough anatomic reports have been published [1]. But the literature has recently changed some what in that it now contains discussions of this cancer and its impact on the immune system [2–11].
