Abstract

The problem of finding a solution to nonlinear algebraic circuit equations arises in the simulation of large-signal dc circuit behavior, large-signal dc transfer characteristics and large-signal time domain (or transient) responses. Nonlinear solution algorithms attempt to converge toward a solution to the system of nonlinear equations by iteratively developing and solving systems of linear algebraic equations. The method by which these linearized equations are developed is determined by the nonlinear solution method used. In general, all such methods are referred to as functional iteration.
