Abstract

The chemical industry plays a vital part in the economic life of the United States with a contribution of approximately 5 percent of the Gross National Product. Not only does it affect each and every one of us in our daily lives, but also the industry employs more than 1 million of our population. More than 60,000 chemical substances are produced or processed for commercial use in the United States, and almost 1,000 more are introduced every year.
