Abstract
Over the past several years we have been investigating the characteristics of the immune responses to antigens from the outer membrane of gramnegative bacteria, and how these responses can be modulated by complexing the antigens with other components of the outer membrane. As a model for these studies, we have been using defined complexes produced from isolated, purified components of the outer membrane of Proteus mirabilis. In these complexes, the isolated components serve as immunogens and as modulators alike.
