Abstract
This paper reports the investigation of fiber-optic hydrophone designs utilizing a Fabry-Perot interferometer. A compensator consisting of optical fibre wrapped around a piezo-electric cylinder is used to compensate for temperature fluctuations. Two fiber types (conventional single mode and polarization-maintaining single mode) are investigated experimentally. Resultant frequency response and sensitivity are reported. -Ed.
