Abstract
Cushing’s disease, or pituitary-dependent hypercortisolism, is an entity characterized by the development of hypercortisolism secondary to inappropriate ACTH secretion by the pituitary gland. Since the original description by Harvey Cushing in 1932,1there have been remarkable strides in our understanding of the pathophysiology, laboratory diagnosis and therapeutic modalities of this disease.
