Abstract
Fibrinogen adsorption and platelet adhesion studies were done on modified polyetherurethane urea vascular grafts fabricated by precipitation method on clean glass rods. Surface modification was done by immobilizing heparin and PGI2 analog on albuminated polymer substrate. The results indicated that although these biologically modified surfaces adsorbed more fibrinogen, the platelet adherence was less. Therefore the antiplatelet activity of the immobilized biomolecules should also be given attention while interpreting the fibrinogen-platelet interrelationship towards thrombogenicity.
