Abstract
We are addressing the problem of how we, as archaeologists, can approach hunter-gatherer adaptation strategies and mobility systems in a more constructive manner than has previously been attempted. Our goal for this chapter is to cogently present our models, to succinctly address the problems they raise, and to test them against a particular case in the archaeological record—one we feel can be instructive for archaeological hunter-gatherer studies.
(Tixier and Inizan 1981:367)
