Abstract

In most applications of ultrasound in medicine, it is satisfactory to assume that tissue behaves as a linear medium. It has become apparent within the last few years, however, that there are enough exceptions to this position that it is desirable for research scientists and development engineers to be aware of the basic concepts and implications of finite amplitude acoustics.
