Abstract

Few therapeutic alternatives have been available to patients with end-stage right ventricular failure due to progressive pulmonary hypertension or Eisenmenger’s syndrome. General advances in heart transplantation, improved immunosuppression, and growing experience with clinical heart-lung transplantation have enabled an increasing number of patients with end-stage pulmonary vascular disease and right heart failure to undergo combined heart-lung transplantation.
