Abstract
There are a number of directions in which CIM technology will proceed in the future, driven both by the need to overcome certain present obstacles and by the availability of concepts that come to practical finition. The changes will affect the machines; the tools, the transport mechanisms, the control hardware and software, and the workpieces themselves.
