Abstract
The only systematic study’ of the phlebotomine faune of Bolivia carried out so far was performed in the andean region of Los Yungas near La Paz (Velazco, 1973) and 11 species of Lutzomy were recorded. Recently we have initiated a multidisciplinary project on leishmaniasis in the Lowlands of Bolivia (Recacoechea et al., in this chapter) in the primary rain forest of Yapacani,. department of Santa Cruz, a region undergoing rapid conolization.
