Abstract

In the introduction to one of the few books in the area of insulin action, the editor confesses to have accepted the invitation to edit the book in a moment of weakness. I can not only sympathize with his feelings but add that my weaknesses are obviously far greater because I am attempting to address a different readership. I hope that the reader will bear with my attempts at writing general prose in guiding him (or her) through the book and trying to excite him about this engaging topic in medical research, the action of insulin.
