Abstract
A method for the measurement of total body calcium (TBCa) by prompt gamma neutron activation analysis has previously been described (Ryde et al. f 1987). This involves irradiation with Cf-252 neutrons and on-line detection of 6.420 MeV gamma-rays resulting from neutron capture in Ca-40. It therefore differs significantly from all other measurements of TBCa, which hitherto have employed the delayed activation method.
