Issues of Lead Toxicity

  • Chapter

Part of the book series: Basic Life Sciences ((BLSC,volume 55))

Abstract

The purpose of this article is to review the current status of lead neurotoxicity. Evidence that chronic, long-term exposure to lead may result in altered cognitive function in both the developing and mature brain is now compelling. Recommendations for the further investigation of the consequences of lead toxicity upon human health are discussed.
