Abstract
Large transients in pressure and flow were observed experimentally during column loading. Results from a single CSTR model agree qualitatively with experiments. Oscillations in pressure and flow occur when a CSTRs-in-series model is used; they appear to smooth out as the limit to plug flow is approached. However, oscillations in pressure and flow were obtained experimentally when columns were connected in series.
