Abstract

The multinational enterprise is undergoing a transition and adjustment to the pressures of an increasingly competitive global economy. The largest, pace-setting firms are often taking on many of the characteristics of an open and interactive network, selectively sharing control, technology and markets, with organizations beyond their formal structure.1
