Multiple Photoionization Studied by Photo-Ion and Photoelectron Spectra

Electron-Molecule Scattering and Photoionization

Part of the book series: Physics of Atoms and Molecules ((PAMO))

Abstract

The application of synchrotron radiation to atomic and molecular physics in Japan started with the 1.3 GeV electron synchrotron at the University of Tokyo1. Interesting studies, though limited to photographic measurements, were done with the synchrotron. With the advent of the dedicated 400 MeV storage ring (SOR-RING) at the University of Tokyo2, more demanding experiments, e.g. photoelectron spectroscopy3,4, lifetime measurements by fluorescence5,6, and mass spectrometry7, could be started. Upon completion of the dedicated synchrotron radiation source (Photon Factory) at Tsukuba8, possibilities for gas-phase research have dramatically widened.

On leave from Photon Factory, National Laboratory for High Energy Physics, Oho-machi, Tsukuba-gun, Ibaraki 305, Japan.
