Abstract
In order to obtain an adhesive bond which is stable in an application environment, it is necessary that several criteria be satisfied. One criterion is that the substrate surface must have a composition, structure and morphology that is conducive to wetting and spreading of the adhesive. That surface must have cohesive strength and not be susceptible to attack by environmental agents, especially water.
