Abstract
This review discusses new developments in adhesives, sealants, and coatings for space and harsh environments. Several papers presented to the Symposium on the subject matter held in Denver, Colorado in April, 1987 will be included in this review. Other developments reported through 1987 will be briefly mentioned.
The purpose of this review is not only to enumerate problems associated with harsh environments but also to highlight the breakthroughs in solving some of the problems. Neither this review nor this entire volume addressing to the subject matter can be inclusive about the state-of-the-art. However, we sincerely hope that we can somewhat point to the directions for future research in materials needed for aerospace, underwater, corrosive environments, optical and electronic environments.
