Abstract
This paper reports on the development of an automated tool which performs transform analysis as described in the structured design methodology of Yourdon and Constantine. It takes as input a set of data flow diagrams and produces an initial structure chart which can be used as a starting point in the design process. The tool’s main features are described, problems encountered in its development are presented, and examples of its input and output are given. An account of intended future directions is also included.
