Abstract
The use of Fourth Generation Languages (4GL) by software application developers, is increasing. This end is brought about because of the high productivity obtained by their use and the flexibility they offer in system development following implementation of the first version. Running parallel with this trend is the use of expert system shells by non-computer specialists in prototyping small or experimental systems for intelligent knowledge based systems (IKBS).
