Abstract

The popularity of the Apple Macintosh and graphical environments such as GEM that run under MS-DOS have resulted in a wave of diagram-based methodology support tools, that take advantage of the facilities offered on low cost personal computers. These tools make the use of a methodology on a project a more attractive prospect, as they automate the time-consuming tasks of producing diagrams, updating diagrams and maintaining links between diagrams. Thus the system design documents can be navigated without leafing through large amounts of paper documentation.
