Reliability Analysis of the Inspection by a Man and a Robot for the Maintenence of a Nuclear Power Plant

Abstract

The tour inspection or the walk-arround inspection is very important for safe and reliable operation of a nuclear power plant. The inspection has been mainly carried out by a man. The reliability analysis of the inspectors has, however, not been well studied compared with that of the reactor operators. The inspection has relatively passive nature in contrast with the operation. Also the probability of finding anything wrong is very low due to the low failure rate of the inspected apparatus.
