Handbook of Treatment Approaches in Childhood Psychopathology

Part of the book series: Applied Clinical Psychology ((NSSB))

Abstract

Infantile autism, schizophrenia with childhood onset, and other forms of pervasive developmental psychopathology are disorders that pose major challenges for therapeutic intervention. Because of the early onset and the pervasive nature of the disorders, these children typically are severely impaired in multiple domains of functioning: cognitive, affective, social, and so on. Intervention must therefore be of an equally broad-ranging nature, addressing the full gamut of the developmental processes that can go awry.
