Abstract
“A bell sounds and the conditioned dog lifts its forepaw. Although the physiological explanation of this seemingly simple sequence of events has been sought intensively ever since conditioned responses were first discovered more than half a century ago (Pavlov, 1927), we still lack today a satisfactory picture of the underlying neural mechanism”.
