Abstract
We have shownl that the inclusion in the Kohn trial function of Hylleraas-type functions containing the positron-electron distance as a linear factor greatly increases the contribution to the total cross section from the lowest partial wave below incident energies of about 2.5 eV. However, this increase is insufficient to account for the experimental value above about 1.5 eV.
