Abstract
In spite of the widespread interest in applying behavioral approaches with juvenile delinquents in the United Kingdom and Europe (Brown, 1977a, 1979), few published evaluations, or even descriptions, of such applications are available. Thus the present chapter surveys the known published work on behavioral applications to delinquency outside North America and attempts to account for the sparsity of such applications. Although the chapter focuses mostly on work in the United Kingdom, this reflects the relative strength there of behavioral applications with young offenders, rather than any characteristic bias on the part of the authors. The review excludes work with adult criminals.
