Abstract

We describe here the principle and the main applications of photoacoustic and photothermal detection for solid laser material inspection: spectroscopy of “exotic” samples, quantum yield determination, transport properties and non-destructive evaluation. We would like to give in this paper a short introduction to Photoacoustic (PA) and Photothermal (PT) detection and then to show how these techniques can be used in various fields of application which are of interest for laser physicists such as: spectroscopy, quantum yields determination, transport properties and nondestructive evaluation.
